Administrative files, 1971-1989.

Beginning in 1971 the Governor's Commission on the Status of Women, and since 1983 the Governor's Office on Women's Issues and the Governor's Advisory Committee on Women's Issues, have been responsible for ensuring adequate representation of the concerns of women in the laws governing Massachusetts and in the planning of services to women and children in the Commonwealth. These administrative files have been created by these bodies to coordinate research conducted by task forces and support committees on issues concerning women, and to evaluate legislation and services both on local and national levels.
